Developer Update - Layers and stuff

Oh dear: followers, contributors and general friends of DMHelper, I owe you an apology! If you have mainly been following here, and not connected into Discord or Patreon, it probably seems that this project has become very, very quiet.

I'm here today to make sure you know: it most definitely hasn't! I've been hard at work over the last 8 (really, 8?!?) months making another really big upgrade to the app, adding the thing knows as Layers. "What is that and why do I care?", you may be asking yourself... well, it's a whole new world of flexibility. If you've ever edited images in Photoshop or Gimp, you know what layers are like there, but just in case you haven't: imagine a combat rather than being just a flat map with a bunch of tokens on it suddenly evolving into a whole bunch of stacked maps with groups of tokens inter-mingled.

You might have an animated ocean background with an island and then two or three layers of a wizard's tower, each with it's own Fog of War and monster tokens - all in one combat. You might have a semi-transparent cloud cover on top of it all. You might have some monsters behind a semi-opaque fog bank and some flying on top of it. This is a really big enhancement and I can't wait to share first releases with you and some videos demonstrating how this can really add some convenience to your at-the-table game-running!

Of course, I've also done a few other things along the way, whenever I got tired of Layers, Layers and more Layers, but more on that next time...

Happy Gaming!
